The central government issued a notification last week stating that Musk's Starlink must obtain "necessary permissions." "from the Department of Transportation for providing satellite-based internet services in India. "It is hereby reported to the general public that the abovementioned company has not secured any license/authorization for offering satellite-based internet services that are being booked on their website," the government warning continued. The public is urged not to subscribe to Starlink services promoted because the company is not a licensee."

"Starlink is offered to a restricted number of users per service area at this moment," the website stated before. Orders will be filled in the order they are received."
In February of this year, Starlink launched pre-booking channels in a few select areas, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. It reportedly began pre-selling its service on November 1 after registering its company in India. The Starlink constellation of satellites, which is overseen by Musk's SpaceX, will provide high-speed internet connectivity. Even in the most remote places, the business hopes to eliminate the need for a wired connection by providing 1Gbps internet bandwidth with a low latency rate of up to 25ms. In India, an initiative like this might be tremendously beneficial, especially in areas where wired internet access is still unavailable.
