Bharti Airtel on Monday deployed an additional 5MHz spectrum in the 900MHz band in Jammu and Kashmir to improve its customers' indoor network experience and high-speed data services.

To increase high-speed network capacity and coverage, Airtel has introduced advanced network technologies and tools such as pre-5G Massive MIMO, 4G Advanced, and Carrier Aggregation.

The Sunil Mittal-led telco claimed in a statement that “the high propagation and reach of the 900 MHz spectrum provides wider network availability and faster data speeds, as well as enhanced coverage inside houses and buildings in urban and rural areas.”

It also added 30MHz of spectrum in the 1800 and 2300 bands in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to improve network capacity.

According to Airtel, the new spectrum deployment would complement the company's recent spectrum rollout in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, as well as boost its network capabilities, which will benefit end-users.
The second-biggest Indian telco claims to have the largest spectrum bank in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, with 40MHz in the 2300MHz band, 25MHz in the 1800MHz+2100MHz bands, and 6.2MHz in the 900MHz band.

“The deployment of 5 MHz in the 900 MHz spectrum band for high-speed data services is consistent with our goal of providing deep indoor and greater reach to our consumers in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Bharti Airtel's Upper North Hub CEO, Manu Sood, said, "We continue to invest aggressively in network enhancements and new spectrum to deliver world-class service experience at a time when our consumers need it the most."
